I consider myself a designer. However, this title leads to a certain connotation. It seems that the term “designer” has been designated to refer to the aesthetics. To me, design is formulating a plan; executing an idea; and creating concision and structure in an innovative way —it is more than what you can visibly see.  My theory on design is just one reason why I enjoyed this TED talk so much. Emily Pilloton is a passionate and brilliant hero in the education world today. In this talk, she discusses her organization’s newest project reaching out to one of the most impoverished and least educated towns in the U.S. Pilloton uses design in a way that rethinks, restructures and reinvents problems in education.  I believe by looking at the world as designers, we can create solutions that are innovative, clear and approach modern problems with a new and creative perspective.
